How to Play Crossclimb

The puzzle is solved correctly when all steps form a valid chain from the starting word to the final target word, matching the clues provided along the way.

Rules

  • Each row contains a clue describing the word you must guess.
  • After answering all rows, re-order the rows to form a word ladder, where each word differs by one letter. A valid word order would be CAT → CAR → BAR → BAG.
  • All words must be valid dictionary words.
  • Finish the top and bottom rows after they are unlocked to complete today’s puzzle.

Tips for Solving Crossclimb

  • Think Broadly: Some clues might have multiple possible answers. If your first guess doesn't work in the ladder, be prepared to go back and try a synonym that fits the letter count.
  • Use Hints (if stuck): The game provides a "Hint" button that can reveal which of your guessed words is incorrect during the solving phase, or highlight which line is wrong during the reordering phase. Use this if you are truly stuck, as it saves time and frustration.
  • Focus on swapping one letter at a time - no rearranging.
  • Use small, common transition words like: CART, CANT, CANT, PANT, PANT.
  • Work backwards from the final clue if stuck.
  • Try changing vowels first - they often create new valid words.
  • Avoid obscure words; the solution usually uses common vocabulary.

LinkedIn Crossclimb Puzzle #840 Answer

Crossclimb is a trivia game from LinkedIn inspired by a mini crossword, but with a twist! Answer each clue, then organize the rows into a word ladder, where each word is just one letter different from the one before or after it. That will unlock the top and bottom rows for the combo clue to complete the ladder.
